Liberal Arts Digital Humanities Support Fellowship
The College of Liberal Arts Digital Humanities Support Fellowship provides College faculty with dedicated technical consultation and support provided by the College’s Digital Humanities Lead Developer. Projects may request either 5 or 10 hours of support per week (up to 150 hours per semester), for one or two semesters, with the option to reapply for additional support as needed.
To qualify for the Fellowship, faculty members in the College of Liberal Arts must submit an application to the Director of the Digital Humanities Program no later than May 15. The Digital Humanities Advisory Committee will evaluate applications according to the following criteria:
The project must demonstrate a humanities research focus, with priority given to interdisciplinary projects.
The use of technology must be integral to the research project. If the project involves digitization of documents, artifacts, or analog files, the proposal must explain how digitization of these items advances research. Priority will be given to innovative uses of existing technologies and/or the development of new software.
To insure that supported projects will be competitive for external funding, priority will be given to projects that use open source technology, recognized standards (such as TEI) and best practices in the field. Applicants are strongly encouraged to become familiar with current grant funding opportunities and guidelines (NEH, ACLS, Mellon, etc).
Software developed for supported projects will be made available to other scholars via this website.
Faculty are encouraged to consult with James Smith, Maura Ives, and/or members of the Digital Humanities Advisory Committee prior to submitting an application.
